After 100 games at Manchester City Erling Haaland looks set to create even more carnage

As Manchester City beat Chelsea 2-nil at Stamford Bridge to begin the new Premier League season a personal milestone was reached by Erling Haaland. The striker made his 100th appearance for the club. Based on his showing today and during the past 99 games for City, City’s number 9 looks set to create even more carnage in his next 100 appearances for the club.

The statistics across Erling Haaland’s first 100 games are absurd. There is no other way to describe it. He has scored 91 goals and added 15 assists in those games. Those statistics alone defy logic. Erling Haaland is scoring goals for Manchester City at a level that only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have reached during their illustrious careers. Haaland has also taken out several prestigious individual awards across his first 100 games for Manchester City. Haaland has claimed the Premier League Player of the Season, FWA Footballer of the Year, PFA Player of the Year, runner-up in the Ballon d’Or and Best Men’s Player at the Globe Soccer Awards. He has won the Premier League Golden Boot twice. It is an absurd resume for City’s star striker.

Along the way, Erling Haaland has been a vital contributor to Manchester City’s recent success. The club has won two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, an FA Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup (although Haaland missed the tournament due to injury), and the UEFA Super Cup during Haaland’s time at the club. It is hard to think of a first 100 games by a player for any club that has seen more goals and success than Haaland’s first 100 at Manchester City.

There is the potential for Erling Haaland to create even more carnage across his Manchester City career.

But it appears that Erling Haaland could be set to create even more carnage during his time at Manchester City. Despite his absurd goal-scoring feats, at times, Haaland is criticised for not being involved enough in Manchester City’s games. It seems to be a ridiculous criticism of the world’s best striker. But if he does improve his overall game he could wreak even more havoc across the Premier League and Europe.

Speaking after Manchester City’s win at Stamford Bridge City’s star striker is determined to improve his game. It’s a frightening prospect for Manchester City’s rivals if he does. Speaking post game Haaland said: “Of course I want to get more involved, that’s what Pep wants. But in a game like this, do I need to be more involved? I don’t know. This is the million-dollar question. Of course, I want to improve as an overall player with the ball. I want to give more assists back to the players that give me assists. I want to become an overall better footballer, like a player, not in terms of goals or anything, just a player.

Even if Erling Haaland remains the player he is today and doesn’t develop further he will create carnage across the Premier League and Europe. But if he improves as an all-around player he will create even more. Based on what he accomplished during his first 100 games that appears to be an absurd statement to make. But based on his display against Chelsea and coupled with his determination and drive it is a real possibility. That is also a frightening proposition to ponder for Manchester City’s rivals during the 24/25 season and beyond.
