The agent of Robin Gosens feels that Fiorentina got a big bargain in signing him for far less than what Inter Milan paid.

The German’s agent Gianluca Mancini spoke to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb regarding his summer move to La Viola, just two and a half years after a high profile transfer to Inter.

Inter spent big to bring in Gosens from Atalanta in January of 2022.

At that time, the German had certainly been one of the most highly-regarded wide players in Serie A.

Gosens had been starring for Atalanta for a few seasons by that point. He was a key player for La Dea under Gian Piero Gasperini.

Meanwhile, Gosens had also enjoyed a standout tournament at the Euros in 2021.

Therefore, it was expected that Gosens would be a hugely impactful addition in Inter’s 3-5-2 shape.

However, that’s not quite how things panned out.

When Gosens arrived at Inter, he was actually recovering from a long-term injury. And there was Ivan Perisic for competition on the left flank, with the Croat in outstanding form that season.

After Perisic left, Gosens would have seemed the logical candidate to pick up his mantle on Inter’s left flank.

However, the German never quite looked at his explosive best in the months after recovering from his injury.

And even more importantly, that was right around the time that Federico Dimarco emerged as a key starter for both Inter and Italy.

By the end of the 2022-23 season, it was clear that Gosens found himself in something of an awkward situation at Inter.

The German left the Nerazzurri to join Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. Inter signed Carlos Augusto from Monza as his replacement.

But it was a tough season at Union for Gosens. He looked for an exit route in the summer, with a return to Serie A the right decision for him.

In the end, it was Fiorentina who brought the 30-year-old back to the Italian top flight.

And so far Gosens has enjoyed his time in Tuscany. He has already scored two decisive goals for La Viola as they have climbed to fourth spot in the Serie A table.

The German’s agent Mancini said that “I was on the phone a lot with [Fiorentina Sporting Director Daniele] Prade over the last days of the summer.”

“He did very well in seizing the opportunity,” Mancini said.

“They signed him for half of what Inter had paid just a couple years prior,” the agent noted.

“Prade got the timing right. He waited until the final days of the transfer window so that he could get the best conditions.”

“He signed an international quality player for a very low fee compared to a lot of the transfer fees you see these days,” Gosens’s agent said.
