According to De Telegraaf, Ajax and Heerenveen want to swap goalkeepers. The Amsterdam club are preparing to offload their third choice shot stopper Jay Gorter for Heerenveen’s Andries Noppert. Gorter reportedly had an ‘extensive conversation’ with Heerenveen head coach Robin van Persie on Tuesday, whilst representatives from Ajax have held talks with Noppert.
Whether Jay Gorter wants to make the move away from Amsterdam is unknown, but he’s currently the reserve goalkeeper at Ajax behind 40-year-old Remko Pasveer and Diant Ramaj. The 24-year-old has struggled for game time in recent years and even spent a period on loan in Scotland with Aberdeen.
Andries Noppert was Louis van Gaal’s first choice keeper during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Since then things have gone downhill slightly as he’s played fewer games for Heerenveen. At 30 years old, he could be on his was to Ajax where he’d become a backup goalkeeper. Talks are progressing between the two sides and the swap deal seems likely.
