Naci Ünüvar made history on Wednesday evening as he became the youngest ever player to score on his full debut for Ajax.
The 16-year-old netted a late penalty as the Amsterdam outfit beat SV Spakenburg 7-0 in the KNVB Cup.
But Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has looked to dampen expectation on the teenager, insisting that he still has to work on “a number of things”.
“I know how this goes,” explained the coach. “He will be hyped but we cannot expected too much from him right now.
“That’s not the way we work but I’m looking forward to seeing how Naci deals with the expectation.
“The boy still has a lot of growing to do, both physically and technically. Eredivisie matches are too much for him at the moment. He still has to develop.
“You can see the talent is there but he is sill very young and has to work on a number of things.”
