Ajax are now closing in on the signings of Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodīmos and Sevilla’s Lucas Ocampos.
Deadline day in the Netherlands got off to a chaotic start for the Eredivisie champions, who had their initial deal to sign Ocampos for €20m blocked by their supervisory board.
Sevilla offered to let the winger go for €15m instead, but the board still deemed that too much money, instead insisting on an initial loan deal.
According to De Telegraaf, such a deal now been verbally agreed between the two clubs, with reports from Argentina claiming Ajax will pay €4m.
It’s not the only deal they’re working on, with De Telegraaf also reporting that an agreement on personal terms has been reached with Benfica goalkeeper Vlachodīmos; now, the transfer fee has to be agreed.
They have until 23:59 tonight to wrap up both deals with the transfer window in the Netherlands shutting after that.
