Ajax have opened talks with Utrecht over 21-year-old midfielder Taylor Booth, according to Voetbalprimeur.
The American is quickly attracting interest from English, Spanish and Belgian clubs, plus fellow Eredivisie side PSV.
Booth has been a regular for Utrecht this season, partaking in 21 games with the senior team. The central midfielder has two goals and three assists to his name so far. This is his first season in Dutch football since coming to the club from Bayern Munich’s second team last summer.
Although Booth came to Utrecht for free last summer, the club has made Ajax, PSV, and other interested parties know that they will not accept anything less than €8.5m for the player. That would be a record outgoing transfer for Utrecht.
Ajax sit second in a tight Eredivisie title race, three points behind leaders Feyenoord. Those two clubs will meet in the KNVB Cup semi-finals. Utrecht is in seventh, occupying an end-of-the-season Europa Conference League play-off spot.
