Al-Rayyan SC looking to bring Gent’s former Derby and Middlesbrough midfielder to Qatar | OneFootball

Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Julien De Sart is of interest to Qatari side Al-Rayyan SC. The side from the Qatari Stars League have reportedly offered a fee of €6.5m to Gent to try and bring the 29-year-old to the club, with a three year contract on offer. For De Sart, Tavolieri has reported that he has conflicting views on what to do, acknowledging that financially this would be a difficult offer to turn down.

Following spells with Derby County and Middlesborough in England, Julien De Sart moved back to Belgium in 2018 to sign permanently for Kortrijk. After a few seasons there he moved to Gent and has been one of the sides most consistent and underrated performers. Since joining the Buffaloes he has played 142 games for the club, scoring 17 goals and providing eight assists. His current contract, which was only extended back in April of this year, runs until 2028.
