According to a report from Foot Mercato, Saudi Arabian side Al-Taawoun are considering a move for Montpellier HSC’s former captain Téji Savanier (33).
Savanier who developed in the Montpellier academy returned to his boyhood club in 2019 from Nîmes Olympique. Since arriving, the attacking midfielder has become a crucial component of the southern side, although he was stripped of his captaincy a few weeks ago.
However, this season La Paillade are rooted to the bottom of the table and Savanier has not escaped criticism. The former captain was admonished following his outburst to a fan after Montpellier were dumped out of the Coupe de France by amateur side Le Puy.
Still, it has been a somewhat surprising twist in the transfer window that Savanier could be handed an exit before deadline day. Over the weekend, it was reported that the club were pushing for his departure and Al-Taawoun are looking to strike while the iron is hot. Foot Mercato writes that the Saudi Arabian side have sent a tempting offer to the player.
