Deportivo Alavés head coach Eduardo Coudet has admitted that Joan Jordán issued a heartfelt apology to the club’s squad, on the back of their latest outing.
This comes after the midfielder was responsible for an altogether costly individual mistake.
Alavés were back in action last weekend, when they welcomed Rayo Vallecano to Mendizorrotza for a La Liga clash.
When all was said and done, the former were condemned to a 2-0 defeat, a heavy blow amid their ongoing efforts to stave off relegation.
And the aforementioned Jordán unfortunately proved himself a leading factor as to why.
With the score at 1-0 inside the opening quarter of an hour, Alavés were awarded a penalty, which the 30-year-old quickly stepped up to take responsibility of.
Jordán’s ensuing ‘panenka’ attempt, however, was easily kept out, leaving the on-loan Sevilla man red-faced.
And the significance of as much, evidently, was not lost on Jordán himself.
Speaking to the media in his latest pre-match press conference on Friday, Eduardo Coudet was again drawn on his midfield star’s embarrassing mishap.
And Alavés’ headmaster went on to admit:
“He’s apologized to everyone. He knows it was a mistake, but we can’t look back.”
