Alejandro Garnacho produced an impressive display as Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 triumph over Leicester City.
Coming off of a 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad during the midweek, Man United manager Ruben Amorim was surely keen to see his team continue their recent uptick in form.
They didn’t disappoint, dominating the hosts for the majority of the match and taking 18 shots in the process.
While it was a fine team display, Garnacho in particular proved to be far more effective than he had been in most games in recent times.
The winger took three shots on the night, all of which were on target.
He initially appeared to have scored upon capitalising on a pass from Rasmus Hojlund but was ruled offside.
Not long after, he received the ball yet again in a goalmouth scramble. Yet again, the Argentine made the most of his opportunity, slotting it past the keeper for United’s second goal on the night.
Taking 30 touches in total, Garnacho completed 12 of his 14 passes for an 86% passing accuracy.
He could have performed better on the ball, however. The winger only won three of seven ground duels while coming off second best in both of his aerial duels.
On occasion, Garnacho dropped back to assist his defence, making a solid tackle and only being dribbled past once the entire match.
Despite some aspects of his gameplay lacking, such as zero long balls and crosses, Garnacho proved to be a massive asset to United on the night, playing a pivotal role in getting them over the line.
Having struggled with his finishing for much of this season, United fans will feel relieved that Garnacho is improving in this department.
Should he continue to grow, he could emerge as one of Amorim’s key players as he looks to win the Europa League and climb the Premier League table.
