Alejandro Garnacho’s future continues to dominate headlines with Manchester United open to moving on the academy graduate as INEOS seek pure profit to balance the books and steer clear of breaching any Profit and Sustainability rules.

The Argentine had no intention of jumping ship midway into the season but he feels he does not have a place in Ruben Amorim’s plans and has now warmed up to the idea of a departure in January.

Almost all the recent reports seemed to suggest that the 20-year-old is likely to stay in the Premier League with Chelsea frontrunners for his signature with Napoli having moved on to Karim Adeyemi of Borussia Dortmund.

Initially, it was the Naples outfit who were leading the race with plenty of Italian outlets even going as far as to claim that a deal had been agreed.

Napoli remain in the race for Garnacho

So far, the Serie A giants have seen their bid of €50 million knocked back with the Red Devils valuing their wonderkid at €80 million. They are open to going up to €55 million but not more, which means a huge valuation gap still remains.

Napoli had even proposed the inclusion of a hefty sell-on clause to sweeten the deal for United but so far, no agreement has been reached.

Despite what the Napoli president has to say, Sky Italia (via Area Napoli) have claimed that Garnacho remains interested in a move to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

So much so that he is willing to put pressure on INEOS to lower their demands so that he can reunite with Scott McTominay, who has tried to sell Antonio Conte’s project to his former teammate.

“For Garnacho, Napoli would offer a maximum of 50 million, but the player wants to put pressure on Manchester United to reduce the demands for the player’s registration, so as to go down compared to the 70 million that the Red Devils would like to collect: he knows that this is the only way for the transfer to materialize.”

Garnacho ready to put pressure on United

Napoli have already reportedly agreed personal terms with the Argentina international who will see his wages doubled should he move to Italy.

The report also added that Napoli are also negotiating with Dortmund for Adeyemi and are keen to ensure at least one of the two come in as replacement for Kvicha Kvaratshkhelia, who has left to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Interestingly, the Stamford Bridge side are ready to pay United’s asking price but as with Marcus Rashford, INEOS would prefer not to strengthen a direct domestic rival.

Both teams are looking to take advantage of United’s PSR woes, with fans far from pleased with the idea of losing such a highly-rated academy youngster as it goes against the club’s ethos.
