After three games, Angers SCO sit in the relegation zone. The newly promoted side have yet to register a point and are above only AS Saint-Étienne on goal difference, helped by the fact that unlike Les Verts they have at least scored in the 2024/25 campaign.
Angers have limped to three disappointing defeats after a difficult start to the season saw them host RC Lens and OGC Nice and visit Lille OSC. However, manager Alexandre Dujeux has been clear that he expects more from his team.
In a press conference held ahead of their trip to RC Strasbourg Alsace, the manager explained that the club could not hope to survive if it were to just pick up points against teams near the bottom. Les Scoïstes would need to challenge those teams higher up the pecking order.
“If we wait for the matches against the less prestigious, it will not be enough. This group is worth much more than what it’s shown in terms of results,” Dujuex stated. “It will prove that it deserves better.”
Dujuex provided a quick glimpse into what he expects for his side when they travel to face Le Racing, “I want the team to be conquering, and not drop off too much. We have to go looking for the challenge, not to be afraid of one on ones. I prefer the boys to take the step forward rather than the step back.”
