Juventus Women star Alisha Lehmann insists she doesn’t live ‘like a star’ and is delighted that she and her boyfriend Douglas Luiz moved to Turin this summer.
Lehmann and Douglas Luiz swapped Aston Villa with Juventus during the 2024 summer transfer window.
The Swiss star made his Serie A Femminile debut on September 1, scoring one goal as a substitute in a 6-3 victory.
“I’m very happy to be here. The girls are nice, and we help each other on the pitch; I think I’ve made the best decision,” Lehmann told Gazzetta.
“Juventus is a great club. If you join them, you can win. My career goal is also to win trophies.”
Lehmann is one of the most popular women footballers in the world, with over 17 million Instagram followers.
“I don’t live like a star but like everyone else,” he said.
“When people see you on social media, they think you live differently, but that’s not true. My life is ordinary. I go home, and I cook. The same as everyone else. Then it’s nice when you walk around the streets and people greet you with: ‘Ciao Alisha, how are you?’
“I’ve used social media to promote English football, and now I want to help Women’s football in Italy. Juventus’ communication is efficient through the Creator Lab. I’ve never found a club that communicates in such a funny way.
“I am a footballer, and I do my best on the pitch. The time I spend on social media is nothing compared to my work on the pitch. Football is all my life,” she continued.
“The team is like a second family, and I am ready to learn from my teammates. I like talking to people with more experience than me because you can always learn something. Perhaps social media will push people to follow Women’s Football more. It’s a developing process that takes time.”
Her boyfriend Douglas Luiz joined Juventus men’s first team in a €50m deal from Aston Villa. He has made three Serie A appearances as a substitute so far, but he’s expected to start against Empoli tomorrow.
Do they often talk about Juventus at home?
“Of course, we talk about it, but at home, we don’t talk much about football because we spend a lot of time at the club,” said Lehmann.
“Certainly, we talk after every game or activity and feel very comfortable here.”
Lehmann spent three seasons at Aston Villa, scoring 14 goals in 75 appearances across all competitions.
She has signed a contract with the Bianconere until June 2027.
