La Liga giants Barcelona are closing on a deal for a fresh addition to the club’s youth setup.
That’s according to Jijantes, who point towards Allen Obando as the player all set to take his talents to Catalunya’s capital this summer.
Obando, for his part, is a 17-year-old attacker, who is currently plying his trade in his home country of Ecuador, with the coincidentally-named Barcelona de Guayaquil.
Despite his tender years, the starlet has already established himself at senior level at not only club level, but international, too, having notched two caps with the Ecuadorian national team earlier this year.
Such exploits on Obando’s part had long begun to pique attentions across Europe, with recent days having seen it suggested that Barcelona were one of a number of clubs keeping a close eye on the situation.
And now, it would appear, the Blaugrana have stepped up their pursuit.
As per a report from the aforementioned Jijantes, Manuel Sierra, Obando’s agent, was in Barcelona on Friday, for a meeting with the club’s board.
This comes with ‘work underway on the incorporation of the player for the Barça reserve team’, with Obando having already gone as far as to undergo a medical in Catalunya.
