Former Scotland international striker turned pundit Ally McCoist has said that one Chelsea player is ‘much steadier now’ and will keep improving.

McCoist was a great striker in his playing days, and he is also now one of the few pundits who I really rate and enjoy listening to.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea stepping up pursuit of Premier League striker – not Evan Ferguson!

As a striker, he is also very qualified to be talking about other strikers, and due to the fact he was a very good one in his day.

So when McCoist speaks about Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, I always make sure I take some time to listen or read about his views.

Like many, McCoist had offered some fair criticism on Jackson during his early days when he was really quite inconsistent. But Jackson has picked things up a bit last season and much more this season, to become a much more consistent and effective striker for the club.

Jackson in some great form

In words cited on X today, McCoist says:

“There a lot more composure to his game and not least to his finishing this season. That’s a good thing for Chelsea and a great thing for Nicolas Jackson.

“He’s much steadier now and I’m not sure he’s even half-way there yet. I think improvement will continue to come.”

I think this is spot on, Jackson did need to get more composed and steady, and he has certainly done that this season. He’s also improved his finishing and has got some good numbers so far this season. His attitude seems to be getting better as well, just getting his head down and focusing on playing and letting his feet to the talking.

And this is absolutely the best way to prove critics wrong, which Jackson is absolutely doing right now. Long may that continue!
