Jordyn Huitema and Alphonso Davies started dating when they were teenagers at Vancouver Whitecaps five years ago –– now they’re taking over the football world together.
The pair both grew up in Canada and were part of the Whitecaps academy. Davies recalls how he deliberately waited for Huitema one afternoon after training, so he could walk with her and ask her out.
According to Huitema, the conversation went like this: “Yo, just wondering if you want to be Alphonso Davies’ girlfriend?”
This bold move evidently paid off as Huitema said yes and the two have been together ever since.
While Davies started to shine in the Whitecaps first team, Huitema impressed for the Vancouver Rovers and in 2018, both landed career-changing moves to Europe.
For Davies, it was Bayern Munich who came calling –– signing the youngster for a record MLS fee. Having initially been signed as a winger, the Canadian soon established himself as first-choice left-back and was named in UEFA’s Team of the Year in 2020.
Meanwhile, Huitema attracted the interest of PSG –– foregoing college to turn professional and sign for the French side. Last season, she scored a header in the dying seconds vs Dijon as the team won their first-ever league title.
Months later, she claimed a gold medal with Canada at the Tokyo Olympics. Huitema was the youngest player in the squad, aged 20 and has already made 41 appearances for the national side.
Both have hit the headlines this week as well. Huitema scored three times in 17 minutes to help PSG defeat WFC Kharkiv 5-0 in the Champions League group stages.
Elsewhere, Davies scored an incredible solo goal against Panama to give Canada a crucial world cup qualifier win.
The two players have not only established themselves as some of the best footballers in Europe but have also won hearts around the world.
That’s because the pair have an adorable couples YouTube channel named “Jordyn and Alphonso”, with more than 750,000 subscribers.
There’s a range of videos on the channel, including a couples ‘Q and A’, Valentine’s Day baking challenge and a Paris vlog.
Remarkably, Davies and Huitema are both still 20-years-old and have a whole career ahead of them. The pair are going from strength to strength, in football and on YouTube –– and they’re doing so side by side.
