Although he arrived at FC Barcelona with very high hopes, the Brazilian striker Vitor Roque was unable to mark his arrival at the Catalan club with any notable influence.

Xavi rarely used him as it was clear that the youngster needed more time to adapt to the Spanish game and to his new club. However, as opportunities were scarce at Barcelona, the Brazilian forward decided to join the La Liga side Real Betis on loan in the summer.

This move is seemingly paying off for the striker, as he is now playing at a significantly higher level than the one he displayed at the Blaugrana club.

As SPORT has reported, the young Brazilian appeared in an interview recently and spoke about several aspects of his life and career. One of the more interesting things that Roque opened up in this interview was his ideal player, as he named a Real Madrid legend as his idol:

“My idol has always been Cristiano Ronaldo. I also really like Neymar for his Brazilian magic, but I’ve always looked up to Cristiano.”

The youngster also opened up on his move to Barcelona at the start of this year and his ensuing struggles at the Catalan club:

“I was in Brazil without knowing if I was going to come to Spain or not. I was on vacation and found out only a week before that I was going to Barça in January. Then I had few opportunities there and went through tough times.”

However, for now, Roque expressed his satisfaction with his life and career at Betis and also talked about scoring in his debut home game:

“I experienced it all as a learning process. I learned many things, and now I’m very happy here at Betis… It was incredible; not even in my best dreams did I imagine scoring in my first home game, and I was very happy.”

“I took a weight off my shoulders after going through moments that only God and my family know about. They’ve helped me become stronger, and now I feel perfect in Seville.”

For now, his future at Real Betis is far from certain, as he is only playing there on loan from Barcelona. Hopefully, he will continue to showcase his talents with the Verdiblancos and enjoy a fruitful career either at Barcelona or another club in Europe.
