As expected, Ruben Amorim has made several changes to his starting 11 for this evening’s clash with Viktoria Plzen.
Manchester United have made the trip to the Czech Republic and are now undergoing their final preparations ahead of the 5.45 pm kick-off in matchweek six.
In terms of the line-up Amorim has deployed, fans knew prior to tonight’s announcement that Tyrell Malacia would be starting after it was confirmed during Wednesday’s pre-match press conference. He has made only two appearances since returning from his 17-month layoff, both of which were only 45 minutes long, with United evidently taking precautions with his game time.
Elsewhere, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez form the back three. Skipper Bruno Fernandes, who has started all five games under Amorim thus far, is partnered by Casemiro in the middle of the park, allowing Kobbie Mainoo a much-needed rest leading up to Sunday’s Manchester derby.
The front-three is made up of Amad Diallo on the right flank, Marcus Rashford on the left, and Joshua Zirkzee at No.9; the trio also started together against Everton on December 1, and both Rashford and Zirzkzee notched braces in the 4-0 victory.

United are on the back of two straight defeats courtesy of Arsenal (2-0) and Nottingham Forest (3-2). However, they are unbeaten in Europe after overseeing two wins and three draws, with Plzen mirroring the same record in 13th place. The Reds have scored only one more goal (10) than tonight’s opponents – both have conceded seven.
It remains to be seen what – if any – changes will be made when United take to the Etihad this weekend. Manchester City have recorded only one win in their last ten matches, but such a turbulent start to the campaign means the Old Trafford faithful can’t fully get their hopes up of stealing all three points from their cross-city rivals.
