Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara addressed his past and future in a recent interview with Spanish outlet AS.
“The first two years at Roma were great,” said the 24-year-old.“But the knee injuries and COVID slowed down my development.”
“Then Mourinho arrived, and working with him was another dream come true.”
“He brought great enthusiasm to the club and the city. I have a good relationship with him despite the fact that I was never given much playing time.”
“That, however, is a technical choice, Mourinho has always been straightforward with me and I accepted his decisions.”
On his future, Diawara commented, “I’d like to find a team where I can have more chances to play, but the market depends on many factors, not just me.”
“I believe in my potential and I feel I can do well.”
On his failed switch to Valencia in January, “I was on international duty, they called me to talk to me about the teams involved and I chose Valencia.”
“I would have closed the deal right away, but I waited another four or five days and in the end nothing was done. I still don’t know why.”
