América have finally officially announced Diego Valdés as their newest signing ahead of the 2022 Clausura.
The attacking midfielder arrived in Mexico City on Saturday, but it took a few days to conclude business on his move from Santos Laguna.
Valdés, a 27-year-old Chile international, has been in Liga MX since signing for the now defunct Monarcas Morelia in 2016.
He spent two years there before moving to Santos. He made 101 appearances in all competitions for Los Guerreros, scoring 21 goals and providing 18 assists.
While no financial details of the deal have been confirmed, Valdés had three years left on his contract at Santos and is valued at $6.6m (via Transfermarkt).
He normally operates in central areas, but can also play as a right winger which should provide some flexibility for Azulcrema manager Santiago Solari.
