América are going to have to decide what to do with Renato Ibarra.
The winger has been on loan with Atlas since last summer, but Los Zorros have decided not to take up the option of buying him.
That means he will return to the Azulcrema’s books at the end of June.
Ibarra has two years to run on his contract at the Estadio Azteca, but he has been persona non grata with Las Águilas since he was charged with domestic violence in March 2020.
Speaking about the situation, ESPN reporter John Sutcliffe said: “They confirm that Atlas is not going to exercise the purchase option on Renato Ibarra; that is, Renato is going to return to América.
“What is América going to do with him? I do not know. We’ll see how he accommodates it.”
The Ecuador international made 16 appearances during the Guard1anes 2021 campaign, scoring two goals as Atlas reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by Puebla.
