There is a chance new arrival Jonathan Rodríguez will make his debut for América against Atlas on Saturday after he was reportedly registered in the club’s Apertura squad.
It was understood that ‘Cabecita’ wouldn’t not be included until the Azulcrema had found a suitor for Juan Otero.
However media reports in Mexico claim that the Colombian has been omitted from the squad and that he will leave the club in the coming days.
Manager Fernando Ortiz must now decide if Rodríguez is ready to feature in the season opener having only arrived in the country on Wednesday.
The Uruguay international had spent the last six months with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia following his transfer from Cruz Azul.
He will reportedly wear the number 11 jersey for Las Águilas.
Fellow recent signings Néstor Araujo and Jürgen Damm are set to wear numbers 14 and 25 respectively.
