América reportedly made €5m offer for Espanyol winger | OneFootball

Looking for a way to get over the hump and lift the Liga MX trophy under Santiago Solari, Club América were linked to a number of players both domestic and abroad.

The Eagles eventually brought in five players, two from overseas (Jorge Meré and Jonathan Dos Santos) and three from Liga MX (Alejandro Zendejas, Diego Valdés and Juan Otero).

América’s pursuit of a right-winger was in no way a secret and it turns out that their search may have been deeper than originally reported.

According to Diario AS, América attempted to land Espanyol winger Adrián Embarba and made a significant offer of €5m (roughly $5.65m).

The outlet claims that the Eagles did not attempt to negotiate and went to the LaLiga side with a direct offer.

Espanyol, rather unsurprisingly, turned down the bid as Espanyol paid €10m for Embarba just 18 months ago. Porto also reportedly made an offer for the player.

In addition, Embarba is a regular starter in Spain and is under contract until summer 2024.
