While América are still working on signing Federico Viñas on a permanent deal, it seems the promising attacker is already looking beyond the Estadio Azteca.

The 21-year-old is midway through a year-long loan deal from Uruguayan Primera División side Juventud.

According to journalist Gibrán Araige of TUDN, América only need to cough up $1.9m to make him a resident Eagle.

However, comments from a representative for Viñas suggests that the Mexican giants may be a mere stepping stone for the Uruguay U23 international.

Daniel Gutiérrez admitted to ESPN that there has been interest from across the Atlantic, but insisted that Spanish side Sevilla have not been involved to date.

“No one from Seville has been contacted. The reality is that, yes, there is a willingness to work for the player for the summer market in Europe.

“We are already establishing contacts with some European clubs, but from Sevilla we did not have any official communication.”

Goal report that América are aware of the situation and are taking steps to protect their own interests.

The Azulcrema are expected to offer Viñas a five-year contract, which will include a high release clause, though what that will amount to has yet to be confirmed.
