América returned to winning ways on Friday, albeit with a mere friendly victory over Liga de Expansión MX side Tlaxcala.
With six regular starters away on international duty, Azulcrema manager Santiago Solari was able to experiment with his line-up at the club’s training facilites.
One of those given a chance was U-20 winger Luis Gutiérrez, who hit the net after an earlier own goal by the Coyotes.
It was a welcome confidence-booster for Las Águilas, who had lost two and drawn one of their previous three competitive games.
The outing also allowed fringe players Óscar Jiménez, Nicolás Benedetti, and Santiago Naveda to get some minutes in case they are needed in the Liguilla.
América will face another Expansión opponent in the shape of Atlante on Tuesday, as they look to stay sharp ahead of their upcoming Apertura quarter-final.
