América have formally appealed the sending off of Sebastián Cáceres in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Toluca.
The centre-back was cautioned in the 79th and 84th minutes, with his hand ball offence for the latter leading to a penalty that was missed by the hosts.
Las Águilas feel that a number of decisions by referee Jorge Isaac Rojas went against them. including the incidents that led to the Uruguay international’s dismissal.
The Arbitration Commission of the Mexican Football Federation has confirmed the Azulcrema have filed the requisite paperwork.
“Once this Commission carries out the analysis of the evidence and other documents provided, it will issue the corresponding resolution,” the body said in a statement.
Should the Azulcrema be successful, it would mean Cáceres can play in Saturday’s Clásico Nacional against Chivas.
