New Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Amine Adli has revealed how he turned down a move to Bayern Munich in favour of their Bundesliga rivals.

The 21-year-old completed a move to Leverkusen in the latter part of the summer transfer window, moving to the BayArena for a reported fee worth around €8m.

Speaking to a media round-table on Thursday, Adli said: “I made the decision between Leverkusen and Bayern at the last moment.

“It all happened very quickly.

“I decided on Leverkusen after talking to the coach.

“He explained the club’s goals to me and said that there was a strong emphasis on young players here.

“The team is generally very young. These are all things that made the difference for Leverkusen.”

Bayern ended the window with the signings of former RB Leipzig players Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer, as well as the return of goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.
