Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim warned the players in meetings this week about their lifestyles away from the pitch and what is expected of them as professionals, according to the Daily Mail.
The Portuguese officially started work on Monday and is hoping to start his reign with a victory when the Red Devils visit Ipswich Town on Sunday.
Man United stars have often come under criticism from pundits and some of the former players of the club about their activities off the pitch.
Gary Neville recently blasted Marcus Rashford and Casemiro for travelling to the United States a few days ago, questioning their professionalism.
The England international forward was criticised in some quarters for celebrating his 26th birthday in October 2023 at a nightclub a few hours after Man United lost 3-0 to Manchester City.
Former manager Erik ten Hag also punished Rashford in January after it was discovered that he missed training ahead of the FA Cup game against Newport County for partying and getting drunk at Belfast.
The Man United academy graduate and his teammates will have to curb some of their excesses as the feeling at the club is that Amorim will be just as tough as Ten Hag, albeit with a more charming approach.
Since his arrival, the 39-year-old has exuded a degree of warmth and connection with the players – something that was noticeably missing under the Dutchman.
However, people at the club have been left under no illusions about the high standards he demands.
Amorim will not tolerate any form of indiscipline on and off the pitch from his players, and they will be wise to fall in line with his rules.
