On Monday, reports emerged in Spain claiming that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti had decided to leave the club at the end of the season.

The 65-year-old has come under some pressure this season and was recently booed by the fans at the Santiago Bernabeu as well in the aftermath of their Spanish Super Cup loss in Saudi Arabia.

Reports have suggested that Real Madrid have no plans to sack Ancelotti at this time but his situation could be reassessed in the summer.

Amidst this, it was claimed that Ancelotti himself had decided to move on once the season is over, irrespective of how things go in the coming months.

Ancelotti dismisses exit rumours

However, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti has dismissed any talks of him possibly leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season.

The legendary Italian tactician is fully focused on the present and is eager to win more titles with the Merengues and is not thinking about what he will do in the future.

Ancelotti has a contract with the Spanish capital club that runs until the summer of 2026 and he has never hidden that he wishes to stay with Real Madrid for as long as possible.

As such, the reports of him wanting to leave later this year came as a bolt out of the blue. Nevertheless, it appears that an exit at the end of the season is not on the Italian manager’s mind at the moment.

If and when Ancelotti opts to move on, though, Real Madrid have identified Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen as their preferred candidate to take over the reins.
