Santi Aouna is reporting that Belgian side Anderlecht have made a late attempt to sign Stade Brestois striker Islam Slimani (34).

The Algerian international has played 18 games for Brest this season, including 16 in Ligue 1. During that time, he has scored two goals and registered three assists for the club, who are currently 16th in the French top flight. Given that four teams will be relegated this season, Brest are very much embroiled in a battle to retain their Ligue 1 status.

However, they could lose a staple of their attacking Slimani. Anderlecht are attempting to bring the striker to Belgium in the final hours of the transfer window. The former Leicester City, AS Monaco, Olympique Lyonnais and Sporting Lisbon striker joined Brest at the beginning of this season, but the nomadic forward could be on the move again before the closure of the transfer window this evening.
