Ange Postecoglou tipped to make a sensational return to Celtic Park one day in the future…

The Greek-Aussie left the club he guided to a domestic Treble back in 2023, when Daniel Levy came calling from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, where he is currently serving as manager right now, although is under increasing pressure of late.

Ange Postecoglou did a remarkable job at Celtic

The man who helped rebuild Celtic from one of our lowest ebbs in modern times – following the Covid season and a failure to secure the title which would have meant a history-book record ten titles in a row – constructed one of the most dynamic and attacking footballing sides the club had seen, carrying on in the footsteps of the immortal Jock Stein – the only manager to win the European Cup at Parkhead.

That vibrancy and attacking verve brought the attentions of Spurs to our door, just when we were looking to get Ange tied down to a new long-term contact after his Treble success. That story was not to continue though, as the North London outfit made him an offer he couldn’t refuse and precipated the return of the maligned figure of Brendan Rodgers to the hallowed gates once again.

Greek footballing icon makes the Postecoglou prediction

However, a Greek footballing icon, Giorgos Karagounis, intimated that he thinks Ange might make his own dramatic return to Celtic one day, just as Brendan Rodgers and Jota have done lately, the man who won the Euros in 2004 with Greece said as reported by Glasgow Times:

“Ange Postecoglou did a great job with Celtic, a fantastic job. So one day I think we will see him back there. Having said that, at the moment he is at another great team in Tottenham and of course he’s coaching in the Premier League, so I don’t think he’ll want to go back to Scotland straight away.”

The player who was once offered the chance to sign for the Hoops also feels the Bhoys would give a good account of themselves if they were ever invited to join the richest league in the world, stating:

“Celtic and the (the)Rangers are two great teams with a great history in Scotland and in Europe, they have so many fans and I think they would do well in the Premier League. They have proved they can perform in European competitions whether it be the Europa League or the Champions League, I think that shows they could be competitive in the Premier League too.”

A return to Paradise for Ange Postecoglou seems unlikely

A return to Paradise for Ange Postecoglou would be something right enough. Although it might seem unlikely you just never know, and judging by his previous record in Scottish football, there would be many who wouldn’t want such a communion to take place again.

The Celtic Board must back Brendan Rodgers this summer

It’s not going to be in the near future though, as despite all talk, Ange is still the Tottenham manager and can win the Europa League, which would turn the club’s season around. Likewise, we have a more than capable boss in Brendan Rodgers and hopefully the club will back him adequately so he signs a new deal.
