The right-back has got a contract with the Reds which expires on June 30, 2025 and is widely expected to join Madrid this summer.
However, Los Blancos would love to have Trent available for the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins in the USA on June 15.
FIFA will allow two extra registration periods for competing clubs, who wish to make alterations to their squads for the group stage and subsequent knockout rounds.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, could be released early from his Liverpool contract, with discussions to be held over an appropriate amount of compensation.
Club bosses could demand up to €1m for Alexander-Arnold and he would also have to waive his final month’s salary. If those criteria are satisfied then Trent could be one of Liverpool’s current players who stars at the Club World Cup.
According to the latest reports from Argentina, he could be joined by a familiar face at the tournament. It’s being reported by Directvsports that Darwin Nunez has been offered to River Plate for the upcoming tournament.
“Rumors about the possible arrival of a world-renowned South American star currently playing in England shook the fans of the "Millionaire" club,” a report states.
“On the program "Cómo te va" broadcast on DSports Radio, it was announced that Darwin Núñez was offered to River Plate to play in the Club World Cup.
“Liverpool's Uruguayan striker has a high salary, but the club could afford it.”
Given the 25-year-old is reported to be making £140,000 per week, it will take a huge effort on the part of the Buenos Aires giants to make this happen.
And since Liverpool paid £85m for Darwin back in 2022, there is little to no prospect of River being able to afford a permanent deal.
Liverpool WOULD sell Darwin this summer for the right price - with the club holding out for £75m back in January when Saudi clubs were interested.
Far more likely is a loan deal for Nunez while his future is being sorted out.
But there is also an intriguing possibility of Liverpool using Darwin’s participation the Club World Cup as a sweetener in negotiations for a current River star.
Franco Mastantuono, 17, is the name on everyone’s lips as he grows in prominence. The attacking midfielder / winger is reported to have scores of suitors on the Old Continent, with Liverpool listed as interested alongside Chelsea, Bayern, Real Madrid and others.
He has got a release clause of €45m in his current contract, which River bosses are hoping to extend.
further down the line.
