Sport1 reports that Eintracht Frankfurt and Ansgar Knauff have agreed terms over a permanent move to the team. Frankfurt will now begin discussions with Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund and Frankfurt are yet to agree on a transfer fee for the 21-year-old, the fee is expected to be around €5m. Knauff has been on loan at Frankfurt for nearly 18 months having joined from Dortmund last January.

Knauff has been used mainly as a wingback under Oliver Glasner either on the left or on the right. Last season, Knauff played a key role in Frankfurt’s run to winning the Europa League scoring in the semi-final against West Ham.

The 21-year-old is likely to have no future at Dortmund. It was reported that in April, Knauff and Dortmund held a meeting, in which Dortmund presented a plan for the 21-year-old however, Knauff felt the plan did not suit him.

It is likely that Dortmund will bring in players that play in the positions that Knauff can fill, making it difficult to find a path to the first team. Current Dortmund manager Edin Terzic handed Knauff his debut in 2021.
