Thomas Tuchel admitted the injury Gordon suffered against Albania at Wembley on Friday did ‘not look good’
Anthony Gordon has withdrawn from the England squad to return to Newcastle to have his “worrying” hip injury assessed.
Gordon was hurt late on in Friday’s 2-0 win over Albania at Wembley and England boss Thomas Tuchel admitted the injury did “not look good”.
The 24-year-old went down in distress towards the end of the Albania game before limping down the tunnel, having come on as a substitute for the final 20 minutes.
Gordon has returned to Newcastle to have his injury assessed and has been ruled out of Monday’s World Cup qualifier against Latvia at Wembley.

An FA statement on Sunday read: “Anthony Gordon has withdrawn from Three Lions camp having sustained an injury during Friday night's 2-0 win over Albania.
“The forward has returned to Newcastle United for further assessment.”
Gordon’s injury is a major concern for Carabao Cup winners Newcastle, who face Brentford on Wednesday as they target Champions League qualification for next season.
Speaking after the Albania game, Tuchel said: “He looks injured. First of all I thought it was his stomach but it's his hip and it does not look good.”
Gordon might have been pushing to start the Latvia game, given Tuchel criticised wingers Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden for their performances against Albania.
Tuchel said: "We lacked a little bit runs off the ball. so it was a little bit too much passing, not enough dribbling, not enough carrying the ball and driving with the ball.”
