There does seem to be a possibility that Manchester City could move quickly to sign Andrea Cambiaso this summer. Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Juventus could be looking to raise funds by June 30th. That situation may play into City’s hands in the summer. Now a new report indicates that Manchester City could be preparing to make a big push to sign Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong. It now seems that the possibility of City signing two full-backs this summer could be in play. It is a move that would strengthen Pep Guardiola’s squad if it is one that Manchester City pursue this summer.

Fraser Fletcher has reported for TeamTalk that Manchester City are set to make a push to sign Jeremie Frimpong in the coming weeks. Furthermore, Fletcher reports that Frimpong is set to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer. Manchester City signing both Jeremie Frimpong and Andrea Cambiaso would strengthen City’s full-back options.

There is a need for Manchester City to strengthen at full-back. Signing one of Andrea Cambiaso or Jeremie Frimpong would help in this regard. But signing both players immensely improve Manchester City’s options at full-back. In Frimpong City could land one of the premier attacking full-backs in the game. His strongest attributes would help Manchester City add more creativity to their squad. That would be a fine addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad and it is something they are screaming out for.

Andrea Cambiaso is a different player entirely. Signing him would give Pep Guardiola another option to employ at left-back. Josko Gvardiol shoulders a heavy workload for his team. Signing Cambiaso would add quality cover for Gvardiol in the position. But Cambiaso can also play at right-back and he’d offer something different to Frimpong in the position. Signing Cambiaso could also allow Rico Lewis to move into midfield which is the position he seems destined to play.

Signing both Jeremie Frimpong and Andrea Cambiaso would give Pep Guardiola two more quality options at full-back. On closer inspection, it’s a move that makes sense on multiple fronts for Manchester City to pursue. Now it remains to be seen if it is one that they do pursue to strengthen their squad this summer.
