Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni used a back three during training, ahead of the Albiceleste’s World Cup final against France.

Scaloni has used a back three in the tournament, with Lisandro Martinez joining Nicolas Otamendi and Cristian Romero at the back. But usually, he has used a back four, with Otamendi and Romero starting at the back. The back three was used against the Netherlands to match the Dutch side’s formation.

Ole Argentina have reported that during Argentina’s training session on Friday, Scaloni mixed up the sessions. They started training with a 3-5-2 and then moved to a 4-3-3 followed by the usage of a 4-4-2.

When operating in a back three, Romero, Otamendi and Martinez were the three centre-backs, with Marcos Acuna and Nahuel Molina being the wing-backs on the left and right.
