Arne Engels' run of fine form continued this afternoon as he played his part in the Celts' emphatic 4-0 victory over St Johnstone at Celtic Park. The Belgian was involved in much of the Hoops' attacking play throughout the match, even popping up with an assist for Kyogo as Brendan Rodgers' men bid farewell to 2024 in brilliant style. Engels may only have joined the club in the summer, but his calm persona and his class on the ball has already contributed to a trophy win for the Celts and has helped to give the champions a healthy lead at the top of the SPFL table going in to the second half of the season. And speaking to Celtic TV after today's victory, Engels praised his side's performance as he reflected on his time at the club so far. "I think it [the performance] was amazing," he said. "The gaffer told us to finish the year really well and that's what we did from minute one.
"We showed that we are ready for the game, and we took it in our own hands.
'We finished really well, and congratulations to Kyogo for the two goals! Everyone is really happy.'
"It's been busy, with a lot of games. We keep on going every three days right now. "It's up to us to keep this level and to keep it going. It has been really lovely actually."Watch Arne Engels' full post-match interview below.
