Liverpool boss Arne Slot has remained coy on Trent Alexander-Arnold's future at the club.
Alexander-Arnold was reportedly the subject of a bid from Real Madrid this week which the Reds turned down, according to several reports.
But ahead of their game with Manchester United this weekend, Slot has refused to comment on the speculation and instead responded to questions about Alexander-Arnold's step up in performance this season.
"I speak to every player and for Trent it is the same, so I have spoken to him, yeah," the coach curtly said.
"Trent can improve but these players are top of the world so not much more they can improve but Trent defensively has made a step up.
"Outstanding in some games but up and down in some too, so it's about consistency for top players and that is where the biggest improvement can come."
Slot then confirmed the fitness of everyone in his squad apart from Joe Gomez.
"Gomez is not in a good place, out for a few weeks, Conor and Konate will train with us for the first time.
"Rest of the squad? Still have to come in but we trained yesterday and I assume everyone is fit. I've not heard anything [to the contrary].
"Everyone apart from Gomez is set to be a part of the game."
The Liverpool boss then gave his thoughts on United's lowly position in the table and whether he might rest some players for the game.
"No I don't plan to, it's a big game, for me I said it before first fixture and one more time, they have much better players than the league table shows.
"It will take a while maybe for Ruben but they will definitely go up and they are much, much better than the league table shows."
