Arne Slot has reflected on Liverpool's disastrous defeat to Nottingham Forest after his side clawed back an emphatic win over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.

It's been a rollercoaster of a week for the Reds, to say the least. They endured heartbreak on Saturday, suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Forest in the Premier League, before recording a 3-1 comeback win over Milan on Tuesday night.

An opening strike from Christian Pulisic had given Milan an early lead, before Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk turned the game on its head before half-time, and Dominik Szoboszlai's beautiful third goal sealed all three points.

When asked how the team coped after trailing in the opening three minutes, Slot shared the feelings of his squad. "I think that was the positive thing," he told Amazon Prime.

"After losing on Saturday, which was quite a blow for us to be honest, and then to be 1-0 down after five minutes, and an early chance as well, although it was offside. You're always wondering how the team reacts.

"I think we showed how good we can be on the ball. That's what I said after the game, if you can play so good, it's almost...maybe to use the word disgrace is too much, but it's unbelievable that you lose to Forest at home if you can play this well today."

Liverpool's opening victory saw them pick up all three points in the Champions League new-look league format. They will return to action on Saturday when they host Bournemouth at Anfield and have a short break from European fixtures until their clash with Bologna on 2 October.
