Arsenal youth duo Max Dowman and Theo Julienne were both involved in a draw for the England u17s against Belgium in their first game of the November break.

With Jack Porter pulling out of the international break due to injury, Max Dowman and Theo Julienne are the two Arsenal youngsters remaining in the England u17s this month.

Both players featured in England’s first game of the break, a friendly against Belgium, though they didn’t spend any time on the pitch at the same time.

Dowman started the match, playing 74 minutes before coming off for Aston Villa’s Jack McGrath, and Julienne was introduced for Wes Okoduwa at the same time.

The match was a 1-1 draw, with Ryan McAidoo providing England’s equaliser after Belgium had taken the lead from the penalty spot. The friendly went to a penalty shootout, for the sake of practice, and Belgium won that spot-kick battle.

England will have an immediate opportunity to take revenge on Monday, November 18th at 11:00 GMT, facing the same opposition in another friendly to complete the break. Julienne will hope to make the starting lineup next time around.

Wednesday, November 13th

  1. England u19s 1-0 Lithuania – Nwaneri scored and played 90 minutes for England, with Lewis-Skelly playing 19 minutes as a substitute. Setford wasn’t involved.

Friday, November 15th

  1. Belgium 1-1 England u17s – Dowman played 74 minutes and Julienne played the final 16 as a substitute.

Saturday, November 16th

  1. England u19s 2-1 Bulgaria – Nwaneri scored again, Lewis-Skelly provided the assist, and both completed the full 90 minutes, as did Setford in goal. Lewis-Skelly was also heavily involved in the second goal, a rebound from his initial shot.
