In a recent report, De Telegraaf mentioned that Arsenal are set to rival Liverpool for Feyenoord keeper Justin Bijlow this summer. It has been stated that the Gunners are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Dutch custodian later this year.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a solid campaign at the Dutch club after putting in a series of impressive performances for them in the Eredivisie. Bijlow has made 24 appearances for Feyenoord this season, conceding 23 goals and earning nine clean sheets in all competitions.

The Dutch custodian deserves some credit for averaging 0.8 clearances and 5.7 long balls per 90 minutes in the Eredivisie. He has distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass success rate of 86.3% in the top tier of Dutch football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Rotterdam-based club will expire in the summer of 2026. Therefore, Arsenal would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting the Dutch goalie in the upcoming transfer period.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Move In For Bijlow?

Bijlow is a good handler of the ball and has got decent reflexes that help him make a few important saves at the back. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

Standing at 1.88m, the Dutch sensation can be a towering presence inside his penalty box. However, he is still unproven at the highest level and might need some time to settle into life in North London if Arsenal can devise a way to land him later this year.

Bijlow would no doubt enhance the quality of Mikel Arteta‘s goalkeeping department. He is good enough to serve as an ideal replacement for Aaron Ramsdale at the Emirates Stadium this summer. Furthermore, Bijlow has what it takes to rival David Raya for a regular first-team spot at the London club in the coming years.

At 26, the Dutch custodian is about to enter his prime which makes him a worthy target for the Gunners to consider ahead of the new campaign. Thus, Arteta would be wise to move in for Bijlow when the transfer window reopens later this summer.
