Ajax remains determined to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale despite their initial loan offer being rejected.

The Dutch club is reportedly preparing a new bid for the 26-year-old, who is keen on a move to secure regular first-team football.

Arsenal’s stance is clear: they are only interested in a permanent transfer for Aaron Ramsdale, not a loan deal, and the Gunners are reportedly seeking a fee in excess of €35 million for the England international, who joined from Sheffield United for €28 million in 2020.

Ramsdale lost his starting spot to David Raya last season and has been linked with several Premier League clubs, including Wolves, Nottingham Forest, and Southampton. However, these clubs are reportedly only interested in loan deals, which Arsenal is unwilling to entertain.

With Raya firmly established as Arsenal’s number one, Ramsdale’s future at the Emirates is the definition of uncertain. The goalkeeper is eager to play regularly, and a move to Ajax could offer him that opportunity. Previously, he spoke of how tough it was to sit on the bench last season, saying “I never want to do that again”.

Ajax sees Ramsdale as a perfect fit for their team and is reportedly optimistic about securing his signature. The Dutch club is expected to return with an improved offer, potentially meeting Arsenal’s valuation.

If Ramsdale departs, Arsenal is already considering potential replacements, with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia emerging as a target. The 23-year-old Spaniard recently helped his team win promotion from the second division and also featured in the Spain squad that won gold at the Olympics.
