Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an offer to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on an initial loan, a report has claimed.

Ramsdale has been tipped to leave the Gunners ever since they signed David Raya from Brentford last summer. Raya made the move to the Emirates Stadium on an initial season-long loan before signing permanently, with the Bees receiving £30m in total.

With Raya now firmly Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper, Ramsdale could leave the club before the transfer deadline and there are a number of potential destinations for him.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reports Wolves are keen on bringing Ramsdale to Molineux and have made an offer to sign him on loan with an option to buy.

Though Wolves are working on a tight budget and there's an 'acceptance' such a deal will be difficult to pull off, they are hopeful of acquiring the England international and are prepared to take on a significant portion of his wages.

Arsenal have already rejected an offer from Ajax for Ramsdale, who they would rather sell than loan out. Southampton are also said to hold an interest.

Should Ramsdale leave, the Gunners are expected to advance talks for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia as his replacement. Arsenal also held talks with Wolves earlier in the window regarding their own backup goalkeeper Dan Bentley, but it remains to be seen if he will be included in discussions regarding Ramsdale.

Ironically, Ramsdale grew up as a fan of Wolves' bitter Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion, though has never been contracted to a team in the West Midlands.

Arsenal beat Wolves 2-0 on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, with Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka scoring for the Gunners. Raya started for the hosts, with Ramsdale on the bench.
