Arsenal could make a fresh bid to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Dan Bentley in the coming days, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners presently have David Raya as their first-choice goalkeeper with Aaron Ramsdale acting as his deputy. The duo are on international duty at the moment.

The club are set to embark on the pre-season tour of the United States without them. Karl Hein, who recently penned a new contract, could start in goal this month.

Arsenal prefer another experienced shot-stopper for the US tour and they could make an improved bid to sign Bentley from Wolves.

Their opening offer fell well short of Wolves’ demands, but the club’s hierarchy have been tipped to make a renewed offer for the 30-year-old.

Arsenal want Bentley as third-choice goalkeeper

Bentley has been the back-up goalkeeper to Jose Sa at Wolves since his arrival in January 2023. He has impressed with his limited minutes, but is unlikely to displace the Portuguese.

He could be tempted to accept a new challenge at Arsenal, but the big question remains whether the Gunners can reach an agreement.

Bentley, who was described as ‘incredible‘ by former Bristol City manager Dean Holden, was signed for just £50,000. He is now valued at £1.7 million by Transfermarkt.

Wolves are probably holding out for something similar. Bentley’s contract expires next summer, but it can be extended for another two seasons by mutual agreement.

If Bentley joins the Gunners, he would likely become the third-choice goalkeeper next season.

Arsenal have plans to loan out Hein amid interest from multiple Championship clubs.

The club are also prepared to make a move for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia if they find a suitable buyer for Ramsdale in the next few weeks.
