Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy has pulled out of the England squad after recently sustaining a foot injury.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from The Football Association this evening.

Wubben-Moy was set to link-up with The Lionesses this month ahead of the upcoming UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 qualifying double-header against France but it has now been confirmed that the player will instead undergo a period of recuperation. Providing that she completes her recovery on schedule, Wubben-Moy will re-join the England squad when they regroup for their next set of UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 qualifying fixtures in the July international window.

England head coach Sarina Wiegman has named a 24-player squad for the next two international windows. Additionally, four players have been placed on standby and they will also train with the squad at St George’s Park. Defender Maya Le Tissier is one of those players on standby and she could come into the matchday squad to cover for Wubben-Moy’s absence.

The Lionesses face France at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park in the third match of their UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 qualifying campaign on Friday 31 May 2024 before travelling to Saint-Étienne to contest the reverse fixture on Tuesday 4 June 2024. England will then face the Republic of Ireland at Norwich City’s Carrow Road on Friday 12 July 2024 before travelling to Sweden on Tuesday 16 July 2024 for their final qualifier.
