Arsenal Don’t Want To Sign World Class Attacker As The First-Choice Target: Is It A Good Decision?

Arsenal have improved their performances under Mikel Arteta in the last few seasons. However, the club might still not get their hands on the Premier League title as they face off against Real Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Gunners will look to strengthen their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window so that they can compete for all titles next season.

Arsenal Don’t Consider Kingsley Coman An Important Target

Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have not been in their best form this season. The club have played Mikel Merino away from his normal position. Moreover, the Gunners need quality on the wings to support Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. So, they might be on the lookout for a player who can play on the wings and also provide enough quality to the team.

Florian Plettenberg has reported that the Gunners want to sign Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich in the summer. They are in contact with the agent of the player, and the Frenchman wants to leave Bayern in the transfer window. However, Graeme Bailey has reported that the Gunners have not made Coman a priority in the transfer window.

Coman has been a sensational player over the years and has won many premier trophies in his career. He has scored four goals in 23 matches so far in the 2024/2025 Bundesliga season. Moreover, Coman’s total G/A (goals + assists) is eight for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.69 per 90 minutes, and his non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.43.

Is it a good decision?

Arsenal’s decision to overlook Kingsley Coman as their top transfer target this summer has sparked plenty of chatter among fans. Look, I get it—Coman is a proven winner with sensational pace and a knack for big moments, but I’m not convinced he is the perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s project.

At 28, he is no spring chicken, and his injury history raises red flags. Arsenal’s chasing consistency and Coman’s recent stint at Bayern, where he’s reportedly itching to leave, don’t scream “reliable.” Arteta is building something special, mixing youth and hunger—think Saka, Martinelli, and Ødegaard. Splashing cash on a player who might not gel feels risky. Fans might drool over Coman’s flair, but I’d rather see Arsenal hunt for someone hungrier, maybe a younger talent who’d fight for the badge. Coman’s a luxury, not a necessity. Let’s trust Arteta’s vision here.
