The English midfielder can play in a deep-lying role or operate higher on the pitch. He is an intelligent player with strong technical abilities. He can dictate the flow of the game and also make line-breaking passes to initiate attacks.

Adam Wharton can be a long-term solution

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their midfield unit in the winter window. They have Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi as a priority target but the player is unlikely to entertain a move after rejecting Liverpool this summer.

Though Crystal Palace want around €65 million for the 20-year-old, Arsenal are willing to pay up to €55 million to get the deal done.
