It's another matchday, another Paul Merson prediction. Unsurprisingly, the Arsenal legend has spelled a gloomy forecast for Southampton again, as a 1-4 loss for the Saints against Bournemouth.

Well, if you are a carried-away Premier League fan like me, a gentle reminder that it's matchday 25 now. Definitely, we have enjoyed it all along, but it could have been better, at least that's what I believe.

Answer honestly, wouldn't you be much more happy if Southampton's points tally moved as swiftly as these months passed?

Still, it's safe to say that things are improving. Bagging a crucial win against Ipswich, the Saints displaced their stubborn points tally, from 6 to 9.

Sadly, the club still feels far adrift from relegation safety. As a result, their upcoming game against Bournemouth is a virtual relegation knockout for them.

But, if they are to believe pundit Paul Merson, the Saints aren't bettering further as they face a boosted Bournemouth squad.

Recently, writing in his Sportskeeda column, Merson has expressed a loss for Southampton, loud and clear. To top it off, the Arsenal legend presented an intriguing analogy that must've stung every Saints fan.

Expressing utmost faith in his prediction, Merson wrote: "I'm more confident of Bournemouth thrashing Southampton than Arsenal winning against Leicester this weekend."

If such a bold statement from Merson didn't scare the Saints, what is up next will surely do. Well, one can say him biased, but the Sky Sports pundit has been spot-on with Southampton's predictions.

Notably, the last time Merson had a bold say on the Saints, they got battered by Newcastle's Isak, exactly as he had hinted.

And if it was Newcastle that time, now it's an away Bournemouth that thrashed the Geordies 4-1.

To be honest, given how the matchday is building up, even a draw would feel like a win for Southampton. But would it do them any better, only time might tell.
