A recent report from Fichajes states that Arsenal are looking to sign a new striker, and they are now keeping tabs on Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen. The manager, Mikel Arteta, wants to strengthen their attacking unit, and the bosses at Arsenal feel that Boniface might turn out to be the best man to do such.
The Gunners wanted to bring in a new striker in the summer transfer window of 2024. They targeted Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig and went all out after him. However, they did not manage to secure his signing. Arsenal were not able to sign a new world-class striker but the general consensus was always that they need a world-class forward to compete for trophies in England and in Europe.
Gabriel Jesus has gone down the pecking order at Arsenal due to his injury issues and off form (his 5 goals in the last 2 games notwithstanding). Mikel Arteta is ready to offload him and has played Kai Havertz in the striker’s position on most occasions.

The German has done a decent job in that position but is not a natural striker. Hence, the North London club wants to bring in a player who will be an out-and-out striker and will bang the goals week and week out. They need a player who will complement Bukayo Saka in his goal-scoring duties.
Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League standings now and have 33 points in 17 games. They have not had the best of seasons so far and have struggled in front of the goal. Hence, they want to bring Boniface to address the goal-scoring issues.
They still have their interest in Sesko and are also targeting Marcus Thuram. However, the 24-year-old Nigerian is now added to the interest list of Mikel Arteta. He has scored eight goals and provided one assist in the 15 games played across competitions so far this season. Boniface’s performances have attracted the attention of many clubs, and Arsenal are one of them.
He is physically strong and a good goal scorer. It is just the profile that Mikel Arteta needs at Arsenal. The Gunners will need to spend €50–60 million to sign the star striker from Leverkusen. If Mikel Arteta can integrate Boniface seamlessly into his plans, he might just be the missing puzzle between Arsenal and their Premier League aspirations.
