Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth and have met with his representatives, according to journalist David Ornstein.
The 19-year-old defender has been one of the surprise stars of the season under Andoni Iraola. He has quickly become a key part of Bournemouth’s backline.
Arsenal have built one of the best defences in Europe. Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba form a strong centre-back pairing for the Gunners.
Signing Huijsen could be a smart move for the Gunners, especially with Jakub Kiwior possibly on his way out this summer.
Several other Premier League clubs have also shown strong interest in Huijsen. Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are all tracking him.
Liverpool have yet to agree a new deal with Ibrahima Konate. With the chance to play alongside Virgil van Dijk, Huijsen might be tempted to join them.
Chelsea are looking to strengthen their defence. Injuries to Wesley Fofana have made this a key area of concern for the club.
Tottenham, Newcastle and Real Madrid are also monitoring Huijsen closely. The defender reportedly has a £50 million release clause in his contract.
Huijsen’s impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team, where he replaced Barcelona’s Inigo Martínez.
The centre-back is expected to attract even more interest as the transfer window nears and it will be intriguing o see where he ends up.
